Carton Flow Rack Systems in Greater Cincinnati
Carton flow rack turns a pick line into a moving one. Cases sit on inclined wheel beds, so every time a picker takes one, the next slides forward to the same spot. Restocking happens from the back aisle, which keeps the picker in a tight, predictable window instead of walking to find product.
Most operations run carton flow shelving in the lower levels with pallet positions above, so a single bay handles case picking and reserve stock. We lay out the wheel beds around your case sizes, pick rate, and how many SKUs need a face.
How Carton Flow Rack Works
Inclined wheel beds
Full-width wheel bed or roller track sits on a slight incline inside a standard bay, so cases advance under their own weight.
Pick from the front
The picker always reaches the same forward position. Travel drops, and so does the time spent hunting for the next case.
Restock from the back
Replenishment loads the high end from a separate aisle, so restocking never blocks the pick line and rotation stays first in, first out.
Lanes per SKU
Lane dividers set the width for each case size, giving every SKU a face that can be resized as your mix changes.

Where It Fits Best
What We Need to Design It
- What are your case dimensions and weights?
- How many SKUs need a pick face?
- How many picks per SKU on a busy day?
- Do you have a separate aisle available for restocking?
- Are reserve pallets going above the pick levels?
What a Project Includes
A carton flow project starts with the case list: dimensions, weight, whether the carton bottom is stiff or soft, and how many picks each SKU takes per day. Those numbers decide wheel bed style, lane width, and how much face each SKU earns.
We then lay out the bay: how many flow levels, at what incline, and what sits above them. In most designs the golden zone gets the fastest movers, slower SKUs move to the upper or lower levels, and reserve pallets stack overhead in the same footprint.
The quote itemizes frames, beams, wheel bed or track, lane dividers, front stops, and any shelf-level accessories, with the layout showing lane assignments. Installation sets incline, tests case travel with your actual cartons, and adjusts before the line goes live.
The result is a pick line where cases present themselves, restocking happens out of the way, and lane widths can be reset as SKUs come and go.
