Cantilever Rack Systems in Greater Cincinnati

Cantilever rack stores what pallets cannot. Arms extend from a column with nothing across the front, so lumber, pipe, tube, bar stock, sheet goods, and furniture load from the side and come out without lifting over a beam.

Because there is no front column in the way, cantilever warehouse racking handles long loads and mixed lengths that would otherwise end up leaning against a wall. We size arm length, capacity, and column spacing around the bundles you actually handle, then quote single- or double-sided runs with the layout.

    How Cantilever Rack Works

    1

    Columns and bases

Upright columns sit on bases anchored to the slab. Base depth is set by load and arm length so the run stays stable under an off-center pick.

    2

    Arms on adjustable spacing

Arms bolt or pin into the column at set increments and move as your product mix changes. Straight arms suit boxed goods; inclined arms with lips hold round or loose stock.

    3

    Arm spacing and deflection

Spacing between columns is set so bundles do not sag between arms. A common rule places arms about half the load length apart with the ends overhanging evenly.

    4

    Single or double sided

Single-sided runs go along a wall. Double-sided runs stand in open floor and store from both faces for twice the capacity per base.

    Where It Fits Best

    Lumber, plywood, and sheet goods
Pipe, tube, conduit, and bar stock
    Steel service center inventory
    Furniture, doors, and windows
Long or awkward loads currently stored on the floor

What We Need to Design It

    • What are the dimensions of the product being stored, length included?
    • What is the weight per bundle?
    • Straight arms or inclined arms, and do you need lips?
    • Single-sided along a wall, or double-sided in open floor?
    • What is the clear height and the reach of your handling equipment?

    What a Project Includes

Cantilever specification is all about the load. We start with bundle dimensions, weight per bundle, and how the material is handled: forklift forks, a side loader, or by hand off a cart. That determines arm length, arm capacity, and how much clearance each level needs.

From there we set column height and spacing, choose straight or inclined arms, and decide whether lips are needed to keep round stock in place. Single-sided runs get positioned along walls; double-sided runs get aisle dimensions matched to your handling equipment.

The quote itemizes columns, bases, arms, bracing, and anchors, with a CAD drawing showing the run, arm levels, and rated capacities. Installation partners anchor bases, plumb columns, brace the run, and set arm elevations to the drawing.

You end up with arms you can move as inventory changes, capacity ratings for each level, and floor space back where the long material used to lie.
