How deep can a pushback rack lane go?

Two to six pallets deep is the practical range for most warehouses, and lanes beyond four deep only pay off if you consistently carry that many pallets per SKU. We size lane depth from your inventory profile rather than maxing it out.

How does a push back racking system compare to drive-in rack?

Both store deep from one face. With pushback the forklift stays in the aisle and gravity does the work, which is faster and easier on the structure. Drive-in goes deeper and costs less per position, but the driver has to enter the lane.

Will my drivers need retraining?

Very little. Loading is closer to selective racking than to drive-in: square up in the aisle, set the pallet, and let the cart take it. Most crews are comfortable within a shift.

What load capacities are available?

Cart and rail assemblies are commonly rated in the 2,500 to 4,000 lb per pallet range, with heavier configurations available. We specify to your heaviest pallet with margin and provide the ratings for the finished lane.

Do you install, or do we arrange that ourselves?

We handle it. Installation is performed by installation partners we have worked with for years, built to the approved drawing and anchored to specification, with our project manager accountable for the schedule and the result.

Will this system tie into racking we already have?

How Pushback Rack Works

Store two to six pallets deep from one aisle without giving up much selectivity.

Loading

The driver sets the first pallet on the front cart. Each additional pallet pushes the cart train deeper into the lane, so one aisle serves the whole depth.

Nested carts on rails

Steel carts with nylon or steel wheels roll on inclined rails. Each cart nests under the one in front of it, which is what makes multi-deep storage possible in one bay.

Retrieval

Pull the front pallet and gravity rolls the next cart forward to the pick face. No driving into the structure and no repositioning by hand.

LIFO flow

Last in, first out per lane. That fits fast-moving product and anything where rotation is managed by lane rather than by individual pallet.
