What is the difference between drive-in and drive-through rack?

Drive-in is open at one end and runs LIFO. Drive-through is open at both ends and allows FIFO, at the cost of some positions and a second access aisle.

Does drive-in rack slow down put-away?

It can, since the truck travels into the lane for each pallet. It works best for bulk moves rather than piece picking, and pairing it with a selective pick face keeps daily order fulfillment quick.

How do you keep lift trucks from damaging the structure?

Floor-mounted guide rails steer the truck, and column guards plus rail-end protection absorb the contact that does happen. Both are specified with the system, not added after the first repair.

Do you install, or do we arrange that ourselves?

We handle it. Installation is performed by installation partners we have worked with for years, built to the approved drawing and anchored to specification, with our project manager accountable for the schedule and the result.

Will this system tie into racking we already have?

Usually. We identify the manufacturer, connector style, and frame profile from photos and measurements first, then design the addition so it works with your current aisle pattern instead of creating a second standard in the building.

How Drive-In Rack Works

Forklifts enter the lane. The most pallet positions per square foot of floor.

Rails, not beams

Pallets rest on continuous rails carried by upright frames. Rail elevations are set once per level, so the lane accepts pallet after pallet at the same height.

Forklift enters the lane

The driver travels inside the bay to place or retrieve loads. Lane width, rail height, and mast clearance are dimensioned to your specific truck.

Drive-in versus drive through

One open end gives LIFO and the highest density. Two open ends give FIFO with slightly fewer positions, since each lane needs access from both sides.

Protection built in

Guide rails, column guards, and rail-end protection are part of the design, because a lane that gets clipped daily is a lane that needs repairs.
